CITY OF MIAMI. FLORIDA
INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 6
TO The Honorable Mayor and Members DATE FEB 6 1986 FILE:
of the City Commission
SUBJECT RECOMMENDATION FOR
RESOLUTION & AWARD OF BID
FROM
Cesar H. Odio
City Manager
NO. 85-86-32;
REFERENCES: ENCAPSULATED SUITS
ENCLOSURES. For City Commission
Meeting of Feb. 13, 1986
It is recommended that a
Resolution be adopted and an
Award of Bid made accepting
the bid from Right Safety
Ware, of Ft. Myers, Florida,
as the only complete,
responsible, bidder for eight
8 Encapsulated suits and
related items at a total
purchase price of $15,319.88.
The eight (8) suits (4 Butyl and 4 Viton) are needed to improve
the Fire, Rescue, and Inspection Services Department's
capabilities in handling hazardous material incidents.
The Hazardous Material Team presently carries two (2) Viton and
three (3) PVC suits which were purchased four years ago and are in
poor condition; to the point of risking failure of the integrity
of the suit in a hazardous situation. Each type of suit, Butyl
and Viton, provides protection that the other does not address.
Funds for this purchase will be derived from the New and
Replacement Machinery and Equipment Replacement Codes funded from
1976 and 1981 Fire Bonds (Project 313218-289401-840/850).
