ENCLOSURES fWU L
Attached is a resolution
providing for the appointment
of two (2) public members to
the Civil service Board pur-
suant to Sec. uU of the City
Charter.
City Commission action is still needed on the appointment of two (2)
public members to the Civil Service Board.
Under the City Charter the Civil Service Board is required to prc)vide,
within a requisite time period, hearings for employees appealing
disciplinary actions. This mandate serves to assure employees that ttieir
rights of due process are executed in a timely and efficient manner. In
past years it has been the policy of the Board in hearing appeals to
afford affected employees the right of a full -member Board. We currently
have pending twenty-seven (27) hearings before the Civil Service Boar,!:
eight (8) dismissals; eight (8) suspensions; six (d) forfeitures; three
(3) unsatisfactory service ratings; and two k2) grievances.
In order that the Board may continue to meet its requirements under the
City Charter, it is respectfully requested that the appointments be made
at the next Planning and Zoning meeting of Thursday, February 27, 1986.
