OUR EVENT IN PEACOCK PARK TO BENEFIT SPINAL CORD INJURY RESEARCH TOOK PLACE ON SATURDAY MARCH 1st. PLEASE LET ME STATE OUR REQUEST ONE MORE TIME: During the entire planning of this charity event we were not aware of the fees for use of Sanitation, Fire Department, Showmobile,,etc. When we did realize that fees did exist, we were led to believe that they could be waived. We never would have had -the event in Peacock Park in Coconut Grove, had we known that we would have to pay $2,185.. 100% of what we raise goes directly to Spinal Cord Injury Research -- there are no administrative fees.. Because it was very cold and windy, Mayor Suarez was present and can attest to this; our gross receipts were approximately 50% of what we -had conservatively anticipated. The dual purose of this entire event was not only to raise money for Spinal Cord Injury Research, but equally -important was the genera- tion of public awareness. We were honored by Mayor Suarez's presence for several hours and humbly submit to your our request for a waiver of fees or "In -Kind" services for the following items: Mobile Grew (Sanitation) $450 Insurance 255 ShowMobile 540 Glass House 132 Master Electrian 176 ( Paid) TT;3n. ' Sanitation Pick -Up (Bill not -received) 450 Fire Inspector (Bill not received) 182 TOTAL 1 5.- Again, we know there are many items on your calendar for March 18, 1986, and your consideration to this..matter is appreciated. Beth Roscoe, the Executive Director of the Miami Project will be at the meeting on March 18, to answer any questions. r T ank you for your time and consideration.. The many events occuring on this day have been made possible through donations of personal and private sources of the; event coordinators.• Our budget when we started was very minimal and our expenses appear'.greater than what we had an-- ticipated. . The founding history of th-e U/Miami Project started with 60 board members each pledging a certain amount -of money to be used strictly for seed and admininstrative costs. One hundred percent(100%) of the monies acquired through fund- raiinsing event s goes directly to benefit Spinal Cord Injury research. We appeal to the commission for "In -Kind", services. The following list, ,are expenses acquired from the City Of Miami: * Show Mobile $540 — * Fire Inspector $182 * Mobile -Crew $450 * Master Electrician $176 * Sanitation $450 * Glass House. $132 ' We would like for you to give this -serious consideration for we are serious in our efforts to support the Miami Project.
