Y WHEREAS, the City Commission via Motion No. 86-44, adopted on

January 23, 1986, recommended that "General Antonio Maceo Park" is

a suitable and appropriate name for the property now known as
Blue

Lagoon Park; and
WHEREAS, the Miami Memorial Committee and the Parks
and
Recreation Department have reviewed said motion and concur
that
a
Blue Lagoon Park be named the "General Antonio Maceo Park";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY

OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City of Miami's Blue Lagoon Park, at

N.W. 7 Street is hereby named "General Antonio Maoeo Park".

Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to forward a

Lagoon Park, located at 5115 N.W. 7
Street, to "General Antonio Maceo
Park".
BACKGROUND:
The City Commission via Motion No. 86-44 adopted on January 23,
1986, recommended that "General Antonio Maceo Park" is a more
appropriate name for the property now known as Blue Lagoon Park.
The Miami Memorial Committee and the Parks and Recreation
Department have reviewed said motion and concur. Pursuant to
that motion, the Parks and Recreation Department will work with
designated citizens groups to develop this recreational site in a
manner suitable to commemorate the life and accomplishments of
this respected Cuban national and freedom fighter.
