A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF COBIA
BOAT CO. FOR FURNISHING TWO (2) PATROL
VESSELS, OUTBOARD MOTORS, TRAILERS AND
MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENT TO THE DEPARTMENT
OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AT
TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $88,007.00;
ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1984-85
OPERATING BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT CHIEF
PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE
ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received July 17, 1985 for the furnishing of Two (2) Patrol
Vessels, Five (5) Outboard Motors, Two (2) Trailers and
Miscellaneous Equipment to the Department of General Services
Administration; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 24 potential
suppliers and 3 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the
1984-85 Operating Budget; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department
of Police, Marine Patrol Unit for the purpose of normal shore
patrol activities; and

WHEREAS, The City Manager and the Director of the
Department of General Services Administration recommend that the
bid received from Cobia Boat Company be accepted as the lowest
responsible and responsive bid;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The July 17, 1986 bid of Cobia Boat Company
for furnishing (2) Patrol Vessels, Five (5) Outboard Motors, Two
(2) Trailers and Miscellaneous Equipment to the Department of
General Services Administration at a total proposed cost of
$88,007.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the 1984-85 Operating Budget of that Department.

Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized
to instruct the Assistant Chief Procurement Officer to issue a
Purchase Order for this equipment.

support vessels operation is not being recommended as part of
this bid award.

In accordance with the requirements of City Commission
Motion #86-193, the attached specifications for the
purchase of two marine patrol boats are submitted for
your approval. It should be noted that these perfor-
mance specifications represent the same requirements
as those issued per Bid #84-85-96 and opened'on July 17,
1985. The Police Department has determined that the
attached specifications continue to meet their needs
for Marine Patrol activity.
The alternatives at this point are; (a) To proceed with
the attached recommendation to award Bid #84-85-96985
(The low bidder has agreed to honor their July,
stated price),or (b) Reject the bids received and re-
issue bid package in an attempt to take advantage of
changes in the present economic environment and receive
lower bid prices.
