HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-86-0243�m J-86-310 4/1/86 RESOLUTION NO. 86-r243,- A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE TAX-EXEMPT STATUS CLAIMED BY MIAMI SCOTTISH RITE TEMPLE ASSOCIATION IN SUPPORT OF ITS REQUEST FOR RETURN OF MONIES PAID BY IT BECAUSE OF ITS FAILURE TO TIMELY FILE APPLICATION FOR TAX- EXEMPT STATUS OF ASSOCIATION PROPERTY; AUTHORIZING AND INSTRUCTING THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO PAY TO SAID ASSOCIATION THE AMOUNT OF $11,953.70, SAID SUM BEING CONFIRMED AS THE AMOUNT RECEIVED BY THE CITY AS A RESULT OF THE ASSOCIATION'S NONCOMPLIANCE WITH THE FILING DEADLINE; FURTHER ALLOCATING SAID SUM FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND. WHEREAS, the Miami Scottish Rite Temple Association has long been recognized as having an tax-exempt status because of its charitable youth and community service program of activities; and WHEREAS, the City received $11,953.70 from tax monies paid by said Association due to its having failed to perfect its claim for recognition of such status; and WHEREAS, Dade County has granted to said Association $9,259, the amount equal to the sum which Dade County received as a result of the Association's noncompliance with the filing deadline for such claims of exempt status; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; Section 1.
