I am a resident of the City of Miami. My family lives in the Morningside neighborhood, and we use Morningside Park every day. I support the City's Parks Department's plan to invest in a renewal of Morningside Park. The plan remediates flooding (badly needed, as many of our street near the park were flooded the past few days with the rains), renovates existing amenities, and adds others. Morningside Park has suffered for too tong from neglect and tack of investment by the City. White the park has served the needs of the public for many decades, it does not fit the needs of a 21st century Miami. Nor does it address the storm water challenges, which are already impacting the park and certain to get worse in the coming decades. The City's Parks Department's plan seeks to address these issues and is backed by years of outreach, study, and support. I applaud the City's deliberate and cooperative process in conceiving of a plan that makes sense for all stakeholders, to invest in and renew Morningside park, for future generations to enjoy.
