HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-86-0330J-86-341 RESOLUTION N0. 86-330. A RESOLUTION APPROVING URINALYSIS DRUG SCREENING TESTS FOR 816 SWORN AND CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES WHICH WERE CONDUCTED BY CONSULAB, INC. FOR THE POLICE. DEPARTMENT AT A TOTAL COST OF $13,774.08; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE FY'85-86 GENERAL FUND OPERATING BUDGET. WHEREAS, the professional image of the police department had suffered severe damage in the wake of allegations of possible drug usage by police officers and civilian employees; and WHEREAS, to demonstrate that drug abuse is rare, not rampant, police officers and civilian employees volunteered to submit to urinalysis testing to dispel connotations of substance abuse within the police department; and WHEREAS, urinalysis drug screening tests were performed by Consulab, Inc. between October 23 through 28, 1985 for the purpose of determining if police officers or civilian employees had illegal drugs present in their system; and WHEREAS, 816 police officers and civilian employees volunteered to submit to the urinalysis tests; and WHEREAS, funds for these tests are available in the departmental FY'85-86 general fund budget; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the use of services from Consulab, Inc. be approved; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. Odio City Manager SUBJECT: Resolution for Urinalysis Drug Screening Tests REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is recommended that a resolution be adopted approving urinalysis drug screening tests for 816 sworn and civilian employees which were conductd by Consulab, Inc. for the Police Department at a total cost of $13,774.08; allocating funds therefor from the FY'85-86 general fund operating budget.
