A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF ALLIED
UNIVERSAL CORP. AT A PROPOSED COST OF
$43,260.00, BISCAYNE: CHEMICAL LABS, INC.
AT A PROPOSED COST OF $962.00 AND BURRIS
CHEMICALS, INC. AT A PROPOSED COST OF
$7, 875. 00 FOR FURNISHING SWIMMING POOL
CHEMICALS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF
$52,097.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM
THE 1985-86 OPERATING BUDGET; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE ASSISTANT
CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE
ORDERS FOR THESE MATERIALS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received January 23, 1986 for the furnishing of Swimming Pool
Chemicals to the Department of Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 20 potential
suppliers and 6 bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the
1985-86 Operating Budget; and
WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department
of Parks and Recreation for the purpose of maintaining the water
at the City's Swimming Pools in a safe and sanitary conditions;
and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the
Department of Parks and Recreation recommend that the bids
received from Allied Universal Corp., Biscayne Chemical Labs,
Inc. and Burris Chemicals, Inc. he accepted as the lowest
responsible and responsive bids;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORI DA :
Section 1. The January 23, 1986 bids of Allied
Universal Corp. at a proposed cost of $43,260.00, Biscayne
Chemicals Labs, Inc. at a proposed cost of $962.00 and Burris
Chemical, Inc. at a proposed cost of $7,875.00 for furnishing
swimming pool chemicals to the Department of Parks and Recreation
at a total proposed cost of $52,097.00 is hereby accepted with
funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1985-86 Operating

Section 2. That the City Manager is hereby authorized
to instruct the Assistant Chief Procurement Officer to issue
Purchase Orders for these materials.

LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT
Sealed bids will be received by the City Manager and City Clerk
of the City of 14iami, Florida not later than :30 p.m._January
27, 1986 for furnishing Swimming Pool Chemicals, as needed, on a
con ract basis to the Department of Parks and Recreation.
Ordinance No.. 9775 established a goal of Awarding 50% of the
City's total dollar volume of all expenditures for All Goods and
Services to Black and Hispanic Minority Business Enterprises on
an equal basis.
Minority Vendors who are interested in submitting bids and who
are not registered with the City as minority vendors are advised
to contact the City Purchasing Office, 1145 N.W. llth Street,
Room 126, Telephone 579-6380.
Detailed specifications for the bids are available upon request
at the City Purchasing Office.
The City Manager may reject all bids and readvertise.

Chemical Labs, Inc. in the proposed
amount of $962.00, and Burris
Chemical, Inc. in the proposed
amount of $7,875.00 for providing
nine (9) swimming pool chemicals,
as needed, on a contract basis for
one (1) year, to the Department of
Parks and Recreation at a total
proposed cost of $52,097.00.
BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were. received January 231
1986 for the purchase of nine (9) swimming pool chemicals, as
eded to the Department
specified, to be delivered as neParks
and Recreation. Bid invitiations were sent to twentt y (20),
potential. suppliers, of which three (3) are classified as":
`
minorities. In addition, ten (10) courtesy bids were sent to
participating minority organizations.- Six (6) bids, including
one (1) from a Hispanic minority firm, and two ( 2 ) no -bids were
received. These bids, upon formal acceptance, will establish
unit pricing for purchases during the next one (1) year period.
These chemicals will be utilized at the City's ten (10) swimming
pools for the purpose of maintaining the water in a safe and
sanitary condition.
Funding for tliese purchases is available in the Paris and
Recreation Department general fund operating budget.
