HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-86-0394.1J46-455 5/22/86 aFen1.11TTnN Nn_ 86-394'..1 A RESOLUTION CLOSING CERTAIN STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC MAY 30, 1986 IN CONNECTION WITH THE HISTORICAL MUSEUM'S MASH CONVOY PARADE; SAID STREET CLOSING SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE, FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AND ASSURANCES THAT THE CITY WILL BE INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY; SAID AUTHORIZATION CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL COSTS OF CITY SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during the Historical Museum's Mash Convoy Parade, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Flagler Street between Biscayne Boulevard and West 2nd Avenue S.E. Third Avenue between Flagler and First Street Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon the full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgment predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to the organizers obtaining insurance requirements as mandated by the City of Miami, Department of Finance, Risk Management Division* WAY St III pc r Section 4. The Museum is organizing a convoy of vehicles to escort a special Smithsonian exhibition entitled MASH, This MASH "parade" down Flagler Street will be used as a promotional effort to highlight the exhibition as well as draw attention to downtown Miami. The Museum has been working with Sergio Velikopoljski City of Miami -Downtown Street Coordinator and the City of Miami Police on the coordination of this effort. The route has been attached. Your recommendation will be appreciated to help make the MASH exhibition a success for all of Miami.
