XLS : n1 M0 -rl om 86-48X May 2, 1986 Ms. Esther Favloe Administrative Assistant To The Mayor City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, F1. 33133 Dear Esther, The Second Annual Jamaica Awareness Festival will be held on Sunday, August 3, 1986 in Bicentennial Park. This Festival is being planned by the Jamaica Awareness Festival Committee in association with The Jamaica Association of Florida, both non-profit organizations. The purpose of this Festival is to bring together the ,a thousands of Jamaicans living in South Florida, to mark the island's 24th independence anniversary. It also naturally appeals to the multi -ethnic composition of the South Florida -s k population, which also includes other Caribbean nationals, Cubans, Black and Anglo-Americans. The City of Miami Police Department estimated that a total of over 10,000 attended the first festival and such tremendous success encouraged us to make this an annual event. This festival will be free to the public and part proceeds from any profit will be donated to -a -charitable organization. We are, therefore, asking that you assist us in securing Bicentennial Park from the City of Miami Parks and Recreation Department and that the Mayor and City Commission waive the fees for in -kind services, e.g. Police, Sanitation, Insurance, Electrician and the Showmobile. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future to the mutual benefit of all. 'With best regards. Sincerely, FDNEYyel, CARSON "EDDY" EDWARDS, ROBERTS,.
