HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-86-0500J-86-539 RESOLUTION NO. 86 -500 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO HAVE THE LIBRARY BUILDING IN BAYFRONT PARK DEMOLISHED IN THE MOST EXPEDITIOUS MANNER POSSIBLE. WHEREAS, following a series of actions taken by the City Commission related to the demolition of the Library Building located in Bayfront Park, the City Commission adopted Resolution 85-599, on June 13, 1985, which authorized the demolition of the Library Building, subject to certain conditions related to the funding of those improvements in the overall Bayfront Park Redevelopment Project, which are not covered by construction funding currently in hand; and WHEREAS, not withstanding the fact that the conditions of said resolution have not been satisfied, it has been determined to be in the best interest of the City to proceed with the demolition of the Library Building, thereby demonstrating the City's commitment to the urgency of continuing construction related to the redevelopment of Bayfront Park; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Commission that the City Manager obtain informal bids, to be acted upon by the City Manager in order to proceed with the demolition of the Library Building as directed herein; NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to have the Library Building in Bayfront Park demolished in the most expeditious manner possible.
