For City Commission Meeting
ENCLOSURES: of July 10, 19 8 6
It is recommended that a resolution be
passed ratifying, approving and confirming
the need for emergency action to cause the
demolition of the commercial structure
located at T500 Biscayne Boulevard, and the
authorization to issue a purchase order to
Finishes Unlimited, a contractor, as the
lowest responsive and res onsible bidder at
the total proposed cost of 3 , 5 .00.
Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received May 22,
1986, for furnishing materials and equipment needed to demolish
and clear away the debris from the structure as directed by the
Building and Zoning Department, Code Enforcement Section.
The subject building has become an eyesore. It is vacant,
unsecured, a haven for vagrants; and just in the recent past it
has been identified as the source of criminal activity.
This along with the fact that it poses a threat to Firefighters
and Police Officers responding to the frequent calls from the
_ equally endangered and outraged residents in the area justify the
need for its removal.
Funds are to be provided by the Community Development Program
with recovery by normal lien holding proceedings.
