FOR FURNISHING DEMOLITION SERVICES AT THE BUILDING LOCATED AT 451 N.W. 4TH STREET TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND ZONING AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $4,900.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM WITH RECOVERY BY NORMAL LIEN HOLDING PROCEEDINGS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received May 21, 1986 for furnishing of Demolition Services to the Department of Building and Zoning; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 38 potential suppliers and 5 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the Community Development Program with recovery by normal lien holding proceedings; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Building and Zoning for the purpose of demolishing a building located at 451 N.W. 4th Street; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Building and Zoning recommend that the bid received from Alfred LLoyd & Sons be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The May 21, 1986 bid of Alfred Lloyd & Sons, Inc. for furnishing Demolition Services at the building located at 451 N.W. 4th Street to the Department of Building and Zoning at a total proposed cost of $4,900.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the Community Development Program with recovery by normal lien holding proceedings. Odio FROM: City Manager DATE: 'JUL U l 1 1986 FILE: SUBJECT: J Resolution and Award of Bid for Demolition of Structure - Bid REFERENCES: No • 85-86-77 3 ENCLOSURES: For City Commission Meeting of July 10, 1986 It is recommended that an Award be made and a Resolution be passed accepting the lowest responsive and responsible bid as received from Alfred Lloyd & Sons, Inc. a contractor, for the demolition and clearing away of Debris from the property located at 451 N.W. S reet at a total cost of $4,900. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received May 21, 1986, for furnishing materials and equipment needed to demolish and clear away the debris from the structure as directed by the Building and Zoning Department, Code Enforcement Section. The subject building has become an eyesore. It is vacant, unsecured, a haven for vagrants; and represents a hazardous situation for police officer and firefighter response. These conditions along with public concern for safety justify our request for its demolition.
