Box 330708 Miami, FL 33233 0708 Dear Cesar: The countdown to U.S. Olympic Festival-186 began on June 21, with a very successful Torch Lighting Ceremony at the summit of Pikes Peak in Colorado Springs, CO. The ceremony featured USOC and Houston digni- taries, and Olympic medal winners Aldhzo Babbers (1984 Athletics) and Colleen O'Conner (1976 Figure Skating) to light and carry the Festival Torch on the first leg of its 4,600 mile trip to the Astrodome in Houston. For those of you who attended the Bid City Seminar in Houston at the beginning of June, let me thank you for your participation. It is one of the most successful projects we have ever undertaken on behalf of the Festival and I know that it will serve you very well in all stages of bidding, and, should your bid be successful, in conducting a great Festival. Meanwhile, I would like to discuss attendance of Bid Cities at the Festival in Houston. We believe that all serious Bid Cities will want to send observers to Houston this summer to learn about the many dimensions of the Festival and we are ' g a teams of two to six people for at least five days which must, of course, include Opening Ceremonies. Details pertaining to any official Bid City delegations are enclosed - see Bid City Program. Further information relating to this Houston program for Bid Cities will be sent only to those cities requesting observer credentials as described in the attached materials. CONTRIBUTIONS ARE DEDUCTIBLE FOR INCOME TAX PURPOSES W-630 i As always, sincere thanks for your interest in the U.S. Olympic Festival and if you need further information regarding the Bid City Program, Please do not hesitate to call- 7 incerely, Sheila M.
