FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 23 Honorable DATE: Mayor and JUL, 1 s 1986 TO. Y FtLe: Members of the City Commission FROM: Cesar H. Odio City Manager SUBJECT: Extension of Professional Services Agreement with Vincent E. Grimm, Jr. REFERENCES: (For Commission Meeting ENCLOSURES: of July 24, 1986) It is recommended that the City Commission adopt a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to extend the term of the Professional Services Agreement with Vincent E. Grimm, Jr. from August 1, 1986 through July 31, 1987 for Professional Consultant Services primarily in connection with the World Trade Center Project and at the same fixed monthly payment for said services as provided by said Agreement. The City of Miami continues to have a vital interest in achieving the completion of the World Trade Center project. There have been continuing delays on completion of both the Parking Garage and the CenTrust Tower. Although the public spaces in the Garage and Tower Lobby are scheduled to be substantially completed by the end of this year, the total project is not expected to be completed until mid 1987. This project involves various contracts and complex relationships between the City, CenTrust Savings (Tower Developer) and Miami Center Associates (Garage Turnkey contractor). There is now significant litigation underway in connection with the project and the City has many concerns and interests in the outcome. The City entered into a Professional Services Agreement with Vincent E. Grimm, Jr. because he has been involved with the project since its inception and it is in the best interest of the City that his involvement be continued. The existing Agreement established a fixed monthly payment of $2500 for said services and will terminate on July 31, 1986. It is therefore recommended that the Agreement with Mr. Grimm be extended for 12 months at the same fixed monthly rate in order to assist the City in resolving the many problems and concerns related to -the project. Monies are available for these services in the City of Miami/University of Miami James L. Knight International Center Construction Account. AIP:bf cc: Alberto Ruder 1
