GERRITS, INC.'S PARTICIPATION IN PARK IMPROVEMENTS: Since 19481 Edward J. Gerrits, Inc. has possessed a great belief in Wynwood Park area and, specifically, the value of the Roberto Clemente Park to the neighborhood's youth. Currently, our organization participates, on a consistent basis, in the following programs: * Provides financial support to the park's boxing program. * Provided required funding to purchase new weightroom equipment for the Center. * Has sponsored six Championship Little League Teams in the area. * Has placed on our payroll an off -duty policeman for the park's use. Edward J. Gerrits, Inc. has committed itself to assisting the City of Miami in upgrading these facilities through the following program: The current park facility is inadequate for the existing and potential needs of the community. A complete upgrade of the current facility is required. That upgrade includes a number of significant improvements. * New layout would accommodate three (3) baseball fields of various sizes. * New layout would provide for a regulation soccer field. * New layout would provide for a regulation -play football field. * New layout would provide for two (2) full-size basketball courts. * New layout would upgrade the facility's tennis courts. * A new Recreation Center. * A new Children's adventure playground. * A new Senior citizen's Activity Center. 0 1-0� The estimated costs of such improvements are detailed below: Design/Plan of Park Facilities $ 60,000 Required Land 750,000 Required Demolition 120,000 Site Preparation 130,000 Building Construction 600,000 F.F.E. 150,000 TOTAL COST $1,810,000 SUMMARY The proposed upgrade of the Roberto Clemente Park represents a substantial move on the part of the City of Miami to improve the quality of life for the residents of the Wynwood Park area. La eficiencia de este servicio depende en gran parte de su cooperation. Existen ciertas normas de la ciudad que cubren y regulan to que usted debe hater at deshacerse de su basura y desperdicios, solidos. El proposito de este folleto no es otro que el de intentar explicar' aigunas deestasnormas. Su cooperation en el cumplimiento de todas las regulations permitua a la ciudad darle el mejor, servicio posible al menor-costo posible. Todos los latones de basura deben tener taps hermdtica para evitar entradas de agua y su capacidad maxima no debe de exceder 32 galones. El numero de recipientes esta limitado de la siguiente forma: Edificios de Apartamentos- Un laton por cada QV 191 apartamento. Negocios a Industrias- Cuatro latones. Toda la basura debe ser escurrida de materias liquidas, ademas de estar bien envuelta en papel o colocada en una bolsa, antes de ser depositada en los recipientes. Los periddicos, y revistas que no esten dentro de los latones, deben ser depositados junto at laton de basura de una manera ordenada, amarrados en paquetes. Los objetos peligrosos como vidrios rotos, navajas de afeitar o cualquier otro objeto cortante, deben ser depositados en recipientes apropiados para evitar dano fisico a los empleados de la ciudad. Los desperdicios de jardineria tales como hojas, arbustos, etc., deben ser depositados en cajas o en bolsas plasticas. Los acidos corrosivos, materiales explosivos, liquidos inflamables o cualquier otro material o substanciapeligrosa, NO SERAN RECOGIDOS Y NO DEBERAN SER ECHADOS EN LA BASU RA. Es responsabilidad del ciudadano deshacerse de estos materiales adecuadamente. Para informacidn mas especifica at respecto, sirvase llamar at 579-2760. Deteriorated housing stock and new housing initiatives in the area of Wynwood. Issue No. 2. Street Crime -- in particular drug dealing - in or about the areas of Little River, Edison and Little Haiti. i Representatives of the State Attorney's office and the Chief I Judge's office would be asked to testify on the problems of , recidivism. Considering the busy schedule of the Commission members, I suggest that the above -mentioned issues be addressed the same day at two different locations to achieve maximum feedback from the residents of the affected neighborhoods. i Issue_ No. 1 -- Date: September 4, 1986 Place: Robert E.
