ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS SERVICE. a WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 5, 1986 for the furnishing of Radiology Services to the Department of Personnel tanagement; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 30 potential suppliers and 9 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1986-87 Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this service will be used by the Department of Personnel Management for the purpose of providing Pre -employment Radiology Services (X-Rays) for Fire and Police applicants; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Personnel Management recommend that the bid received from Cedars Medical Center be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The March 5, 1986 bid of Cedars Medical Center for furnishing Radiology Services on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually to the Department of Personnel Management at a total proposed first year cost of $12,250.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1986-87 Operating Budget of that Department. � CPi7t CCfBiCfH AEEMG or SEP �l Im : Section 2. Public Hearing/Notices: N/A Assessable Project: N/A Discussion/Background: Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were rec-' eive`d March '-5, 19$6, to provide Radiology Services (Pre -employment X-rays for Fire and Police applicants), on a contract basis for one (1) year to the Department of Personnel Management. Invitations were mailed to 41 potential bidders (including 11 courtesy bids) and nine bids were received. The need for the services of a radiologist is outlined in Section 3(f) of Ordinance No. 8526 adopted by the City Commission on January 20, 1976. The specifications for this mandate are for the Department of Personnel Management to establish and maintain medical services which shall include medical examination of employees and potential employees. Radiology services will be used primarily by the Fire and Police Departments for pre -employment medical evaluations. Provisions have been made within their respective FY186-87 operating budgets to defray the costs. This medical related expenditure is exempt from the purchasing freeze.
