Odio City Manager . op O^M S P 3 O 1986 MLtt $UBJtGT: Appointments of Members to the Affirmative Action Advisory Board m1wt"SHC98: MCLosuwte: One (1) It is recommended that the attached resolution be adopted providing for the appointment of certain individuals to fill three (3) vacancies on the Affirmative Action Advisory Board, and the reappoint- ment of four (4) members to the Affirmative Action Advisory Board. Four reappointments are needed on the Affirmative Action Advisory Board due to the expiration of terms. These four individuals have expressed their desire to be reappointed and serve another term on the Affirmative Action Advisory Board. Expiration Date Lawrence Crawford January 24, 1986 Laurastine Pierce January 24, 1986 Edna Martinez July 31,.1986 Nora Murrell July 31, 1986 In addition to the four reappointments needed, there presently exist three va- cancies which need to be filled. Prior to the last request for appointments to the Board, there existed four vacancies to be filled. On July 18, 1985, by c Resolution No. 85-782, the City Commission filled two of the four vacancies with the appointment of Concepcion Bretos (H/F) and Kim Porter (W/M). In an attempt F to keep the Board ethnically balanced, the remaining two positions were not W filled until more applications from Anglos could be obtained for review and possible appointment by the City Comrrission. '? With the appointment of Ms. Bretos and Mr. Porter, the membership count was ss raised to twelve (12). Shortly thereafter, the Board received a letter of resig- . _ t; nation from Mr. Porter which, consequently, reduced the Board's membership to eleven (11). As of this date, the membership still remains at eleven with three vacancies to be filled.
