HERALD FAMILY DAY SPONSORED BY THE
MIAMI HERALD IN COCONUT GROVE ON
NOVEMBER 8, 1986 AUTHORIZING THE
CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO
THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC SUBJECT
TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE
DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE,
RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AND <.
ASSURANCES THAT THE CITY WILL BE
INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL
LIABILITY; CONDITIONED UPON THE
ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR ALL COSTS OF
CITY SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID
EVENT.
WHEREAS, Miami Herald Family Day will be sponsored by The
Miami Herald on Saturday, November 8, 1986; and
WHEREAS, certain streets shall be closed to through
vehicular traffic during the specified dates and hours to insure
the safety of the participants and pedestrians attending this
activity;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage during. the
Miami Herald Family Day the following streets are hereby closed.
to through vehicular traffic from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM Saturday,.

Pan American Drive to Clipper Circle and S.Bayshore Drive
S. Bayshore Drive to Pan American Drive and Kirk Street
Kirk Street to S. Bayshore Drive and Tigertail Avenue.
Tigertail Avenue to Kirk Street and Natoma Street '
Natoma Street to Tigertail Avenue and Secoffee Street 1<

Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues,

Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to the
t
issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire,
Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department
of Police is to be issued upon the full approval of the Chief of
Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and
traffic needs of residents, businesses and religious institutions
in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and
upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgement
predicated upon all factors set forth herein.
Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to the Miami
Herald obtaining insurance requirements as mandated by the City
of Miami, Finance Department, Risk Management Division.
Section 4. Said authorization is hereby conditioned upon
the organizers paying for all costs of City services associated
with said event.

It is recommended that the City
Commission adopt the attached
resolution authorizing the closure
of certain streets to through
vehicular traffic during the Miami
Herald Family Day sponsored by the
Miami Herald on Saturday, November
8, 1986
The Miami Herald has requested the closure of certain streets for
its Family Day Bike Ride. In order to provide safe passage
during the event, it is recommended that certain streets be
closed to vehicular traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on
Saturday, November 8, 1986 as specified in the attached
resolution. The Miami Herald will pay all costs associated with
the event.
It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached
resolution.
