BACKGROUNDS
The Department of Community Development has prepared appropriate
legislation to enact the intent of the City Commission when it
adopted Resolution #86-621 at its meeting of July 24, 1986. This
resolution included a section expressing the Commission's intent to
allocate the first $20,000 of the fund balance of llth Year Community
Development Block Grant funds for social services to Catholic
Community Services, Inc. -Centro Mater Child Care and any additional
fund balance over the $20,000 to the Coconut Grove Family Health
Center, Inc. (previously called Coconut Grove Family Clinic, Inc.).
A fund balance of $20,565 has been identified from funds previously
allocated to social services agencies, but which were unspent after
closing out contracts for the period ending June 30, 1986.
The attached resolution effectuates the City Commission's intent. As
a result of this legislation, the total allocation to social service
projects for the period July 1, 1986 through June 30, 1987 would be
$1,822,888. This allocation includes $1,783,670 from 12th Year
Community Development Block Grant funds and $39,218 of llth Year
Community Development Block Grant funds.
