WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received October 15, 1986 for the furnishing of Nozzles and related supplies to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twenty seven (27) potential suppliers and four (4) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 19bl Fire Bonds; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services for the purpose of equipping fire apparatus in order to improve out capabilities by increasing water flow output; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services recommend that the bids received from Biscayne Fire Equipment Co., Municipal Equipment Co., and Sandford Fire Apparatus Co. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bids; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: L)ect ion 1. The October 14, 1986 bids of Biscayne Fire Equipment Co. at a proposed cost of $11,877.60, Municipal Equipment Co. at a proposed cost of $1,934.00, and Sandford Fire Apparatus at a proposed cost of $1,908.00 for furnishing Nozzles and related supplies to the Department of Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services at a total proposed cost of $15,719.60 are hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1981 Fire Bonds. Odio City Manager RECOMMENDATION: REFERENCES: F o r City Commission NCLOSURES: Meeting of Nov. 13, 1986 E It is recommended that an Award of Bid be made and a Resolution be passed accepting the bid from Biscayne Fire Equipment Co., a minority bidder, as the lowest, responsible bidder for -nozzles and related supplies Items 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8, in the amount of $11,877.60; and to Municipal Fire Equipment Co., a non -minority bidder, as the lowest responsible bidder for nozzles and related supplies Items 6 and 9, in the amount of $1,934.00; and to Sanford Fire Apparatus Co., a non - minority bidder, as the lowest, responsible bidder for nozzles and related supplies Item 2, in the amount of $1,908.00; at a total cost of $ 15,719.60, BACKGROUND: These new nozzles are to equip fire apparatus in order to improve our capabilities by increasing water flow output. Current nozzles require 3 to 4 fire fighters on the hose lines. The replacement nozzles will enable Firefighting to use 2 to 3 fire fighters per hose line, enabling them to double the number of lines and to increase fire tactic mobility. The total cost of the items to be purchased will be $15,719.60. Funds will be provided from 1981 Fire Bonds.
