HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-86-0951J-86-1002 11/25/86 RESOLUTION NO. 86--951 A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING NOT TO EXCEED $4,500 FROM SPECIAL PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT FUND, IN SUPPORT OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR CIVILIAN i OVERSIGHT OF LAN ENFORCEMENT FOR ITS SECOND ANNUAL CONFERENCE SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 1 - 8, 1986 IN DADE COMITY, FLORIDA; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON MATCHING OF FONDS BY BOTH MIAMI BEACH AND METROPOLITAN DADE COUNTY. WHEREAS, Metro -Dade County's Independent Review Panel and the City of Miami's Offioe of Professional Complianoe have planned the Seoond Annual Conferenoe for the International Assooiation for the Civilian Oversight of Law Enforoement in Dade County, Florida, for Deoember 1 - 8, 1986; and WHEREAS, on Ootober 23, 1988, by Motion No. 86-836, the City Commission expressed its finanoial support on behalf of said oonferenoe ; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Seotion 1. An amount not to exoeed $4,500.00 is hereby allooated from Speoial Programs and-A000unts, Contingent Fund, in support of the International Assooiation for the Civilian Oversight of Law Enforoement for its Seoond Annual Conferenoe soheduled for Deoember 1 -8, 1986, in Dade County, Florida. Seotion 2. Said allooation is hereby oonditioned upon the matoh of funds by both Miami Beaoh and Metropolitan Dade County. Odio City Manager RECOMMENDATION: suwtcr: Resolution Authorizing llocation of ds Formal i tati on I RtrtRIMICS: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution allocating $4,500.00 from Contingent Fund in support of the International Association for.Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement Conference, December 1-5, 1986. BACKGROUND: The Metro -Dade County Independent Review Panel and the City of Miami • Office of Professional Compliance appeared before a City Commission Meeting to request financial support of the Second Annual Conference for the International Association for Civilian Oversight of Law En- forcement. Said request was presented to the City Commission in view of the fact that the City of Miami's Office of Professional Compliance is a co-sponsor of the conference. On October 23, 1986, via Motion No. 86-836, the City Commission granted the request for funding by unanimously voting to appropriate $4,500.00 from Contingent Fund toward conference expenses. The amount to be allocated being conditioned upon the matching of funds by Miami Beach and/or Metro -Dade County. A MOTION ACCEPTING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S REPORT ON M 86-836 RICKSHAW OPERATIONS IN COCONUT GROVE; FURTHER DIRECTING MOVED: PLUMMET THE CITY ATTORNEY TO DRAFT AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE PROPER SECOND: DAWKII NONDISRUPTIVE OPERATION OF RICKSHAWS IN COCONUT GROVE UNANIMOUS INCORPORATING ALL OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS STATED BY THE ADMINISTRATION, SAID ORDINANCE TO BE BROUGHT BACK ON NOVEMBER 13, 1986 FOR CONSIDERATION BY THE COMMISSION. A MOTION GRANTING REQUEST RECEIVED FROM THE ALLAPATTAH M 86-838 MERCHANTS' ASSOCIATION IN CONNECTION WITH THE HOLDING OF MOVED: SUAREZ THE ALLAPATTAH FAIR TO BE HELD NOVEMBER 89 1986, WITH THE SECOND: KENNEI PROVISO THAT SUCH FUNDS BE MADE AVAILABLE FROM THE CITY'S ABSENT: CAROLI LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND. A MOTION GRANTING.A REQUEST RECEIVED FROM REPRESENTATIVES M 86-839 OF THE "MUNICIPIOS DE CUBA EN EL EXILIO" TO SELL BEER AND MOVED: KENNED' WINE AT ROBERT KING HIGH PARK AT THEIR ANNUAL FAIR TO BE SECOND: DAWKI) HELD NOVEMBER 99 1986; FURTHER STATING THAT ROBERT KING ABSENT: CAROL) HIGH PARK BE ADDED TO THE LIST OF PARKS IN WHICH THE CITY MANAGER CAN AUTHORIZE, AT HIS SOLE DISCRETION, SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.
