A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF DANTZLER LUMBER A EXPORT, INC FOR THE PURCHASE OF 500 PILES FOR THE MIAMARINA RENOVATION PROJECT AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $719000; ALLOCATING SAID AMOUNT FROM THE MARINAS ENTERPRISE FUND AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR SAID PURCHASE. WHEREAS, on January 14, 1985, the City and Bayside Center Limited Partnership (hereinafter referred to as "Bayside") entered into a lease for development of a waterfront specialty center and a lease for development of a parking facility pursuant to which the City leased to Bayside certain property located in Bayfront Park; and WHEREAS, pursuant to an agreement entered into October 24, 1985 between the City and Bayside, the City and Bayside have agreed that the City shall restore the structural integrity of the Miamarina including the piers, dock, pilings, quays, sea wall, lighting and the original design dept of the marina; and WHEREAS, this commitment was reaffirmed by Motion 86-600 at the City Commission meeting of July 24, 1986; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received November 13, 1986 for the purchase of 500 piles for the Miamarina Renovation Project; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to 32 potential suppliers and 5 bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available from Marinas Enterprise Fund; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Development recommend that the bid received from Dantzler Lumber b Export, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: C1TY COlussu NZETING OF NOV 25 1986 � � i aT s+ettion 19- The November 139 1986 bid of Dantzler lumber & Export, Inc. for the purchase of 500 piles for the Miamarina Renovation Project at a total proposed cost of $71,000.00 is hereby accepted with funds hereby allocated from the Marinas Enterprise Fund. Odio City Manger RECOMMENDATION: DATE: N OV 19 Resolution and Award of SUIUECT: Bid No. 86-81-016 for the purchase of Piles for the Miamarina REFERENCE§: C i ty Commission Meeting of November 25, 1986 ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution awarding a contract for the purchase of 500 piles for the Miamarina Renovation Project, at a total cost of $71,000, to Dantzler Lumber b Export, Inc., as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, in accordance with Bid No. 86- 87-016. Funding for this project is available from the Marinas Enterprise Fund. BACKGROUND: The Department of Development has analyzed the bids received, with the assistance of the staff from the Departments of Public Works and General Services Administration and recommends that a contract be awarded to Dantzler Lumber b Export, Inc. Pursuant to the agreements entered into October 24, 1985 with Bayside Center Limited Partnership, the City agreed to restore the structural integrity of the Miamarina, including the piers, docks, pilings, quays, etc.. This commitment was reaffirmed at the City Commission Meeting of July 24, 1986, by Motion No. 86- 600. In order to complete this renovation project in time for the opening of the Baysi de Specialty Center in April 1987, bids were solicited for the SOO piles that are anticipated to be replaced as part of the forthcoming construction contract for the actual renovation work, which will begin in January, 1987.
