RESOLUTION NO. 86-100o
A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT
NOT TO EXCEED $150,000 FROM SPECIAL
PROGRAMS AND ACCOUNTS, CONTINGENT
FUND, IN SUPPORT OF SIX (6)
COMMUNITY CULTURAL EVENTS; SAID
ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON
SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH
ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM 1-
84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984.
WHEREAS, the City Commission wishes to allocate $200,000 in
support of eight (8) community cultural projects; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, by Resolutions No. 86-753 and
No. 86-846 granted $35,000 and $15,000, respectively; to the
Orange Blossom Classic and the Bethune-Cookman football game. and
WHEREAS, on November 13, 1986, the City Commission passed
Motion No. 86-917, specifying that these events be considered as
two (2) of the eight (8) events to be funded and that the
remaining $150,000 be distributed equally among the following six
cultural projects: Calle Ocho Open House Festival; Fiesta by
the Bay; Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival; Miami City Ballet;
Sunstreet Festival; and Three Kings Parade:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. An amount not to exceed $150,000 is hereby
allocated from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund, in
support of the following six (6) community cultural events:

ENCLOSURES
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt on
1st reading an ordinance establishing a funding program for the use
of $200,000 from Special Programs and Accounts, Contingent Fund,
which would fund eight (8) community cultural events. It is also
recommended that the City Commission approve the attached
resolution allocating $150,000 of the $200,000 to six (6) community
cultural events, since resolutions had previously been passed
allocating $50,000 of this amount to two (2) organizations.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Community Development has prepared the
appropriate legislation regarding the City Commission's request at
its meeting of November 13, 1986, that the amount of $200,000 be
distributed among eight (8) community activity projects.
The attached ordinance mandates that the $200,000 be distributed as
follows:

The attached resolution allocates $150,000 to six (6) community
cultural events. The City Commission specified at its meeting of
November 13, 1986 that $50,000, which had been previously allocated
by resolutions to two (2) events ($35,000 to the Orange Blossom
Classic and $15,000 to the Bethune-Cookman football game), be
considered as part of the $200,000 program.
