STORY OF A MEXICAN POSADA
The "Posadas" are Mexican religious traditions and festivities
celebrated, from generation to generation, to commemorate the
Nativity of baby Jesus. These festivities take place in Mexico
every day from the 16th to the 24th of December of every year.
They are characterized for their songs, music, dances, typical
food, pinatas and, most of all, for the Christian devotion
to the birth of the Son of God.

Dear Mr. Odio:
AEROMEXICO, Mexico's airline, is the promoter of a one day event "A MEXICAN
CHRISTMAS IN THE GROVE 8b" which will take place on December 14th from 3:00
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Peacock Park, featuring Mariachis, a "pinata" for the
children, a "Pastorela" (an on stage depiction of the Nativity scene), food,
music, entertainment, arts, crafts and a genuine POSADA, one of the oldest and
most spectacular traditions of Mexico.
The majority of the persons involved in the organization of this event are
employed by Aeramexico. Everyone is contributing on an unpaid/voluntary basis,
and the event itself is entirely non-profit.
There will be hot food and drinks on sale, as well as exhibit and/or crafts.
We anticipate a large attendance to this event.
We would greatly appreciate it if the City of Miami would waive the costs for
the park department charges, showmobile, event personnel, beer/concession
permits, concession percentage, clean-up services, trash disposal, police
department, traffic/crowd control and fire rescue.
We are sure that "A MEXICAN CHRISTMAS IN THE GROVE 86" will undoubtedly became
a yearly event, bringing the festive spirit of the Mexican people to South
Florida for the merriest, most enjoyable Christmas event Miamian's have ever
seen.
Sincerely,'
