FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM 1 , Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission FROM Cesar H. Odio City Manager 1//V ENCLOSURES: For City Commission Meeting of December 11, 1986 RECOMMENDATION: DATE: 0 E V , 5 19W FILE: SUBJECT: Resolution and Award of Bid for Demolition of Structures - Bid REFERENCES: No. 86-87-021 It is respectfully recommended that an Award be made and a Resolution be passed accepting the lowest responsive and responsible bid as received from Tree Masters, Inc. a demolition contractor, for the demolition and clearing away of debris from the properties located at 166 N. E. 28 Street, 622 & "A" & 630 N.E. 80 Street and 1700 N.W. 36 Street at a total cost of $89444.00, $8,244.00 & $26,494.00 respectively. Also from Juelle, Inc., a contractor, for the property located at 1361 N.W. 61 Street at a total cost of $28,272.00. BACKGROUND: The Department of Building & Zoning has analyzed the need to execute the attached resolution for the award of bid for the demolition of various structures. Pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received November 249 1986 for furnishing materials and equipment needed to demolish and clear away the debris from the structures as directed by the Building and Zoning Department, Code Enforcement Section. The subject buildings have become eyesores. They are vacant, unsecured, havens for vagrants; and just in the recent past they have been identified as sources of criminal activity. This along with the fact that they pose threats to Firefighters and Police Officers responding to the frequent calls from the equally endangered and outraged property owners in the area justify the need for their removal. 86w-9791: H Funds are to be provided by the Community Development Program and recovery by normal lien holding preceedings.
