BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. IXNDATION : c-c J�....°.- fubAcT Resolution Authorizing the Appointment of MerLhers tc the Commission on the Status of PErIPENCKOmen ENCLOSURES It is respectfully recommended that.the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing the appointment of five (5) individuals to fill existing vacancies on the City of Miami Commission on the Status of Women. BACKGROUND: The Commission on the Status of Women, as established by Resolution 78-271, will consist of twenty (20) members.. At present, five (5) vacancies exist due to excessive absences and resignations of several members. In order that the commission may function at full.membership capacity, the vacancies need to be filled with new appointments made by the City Commission as outlined in Article I of Resolution 78-271. The Corrar.ission on the Status of Women recommends the appointment of the following new members: Miriam Singer AF Ruby Hemingway BF Edna Martinez HF Judy Miller AF Kathy Shea AF The applications of the prospective nominees are attached for your ccnsideration in making the appointments. Those names are certified to the City Commission which shall fill the vacancies by appointment. Two members, Olga Garay -Ahern and Carole Ann Taylor, have resigned from the Board. In this instance, Article I of Resolution 78-271 authorizes the City Commission to appoint new members when vacancies occur.
