Resolution
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached resolution which rescinds Resolution 84-1351, which had
allocated $2,600 from special programs and accounts contingent
fund to cover the. cost of four (4) surplus city vehicles to be
purchased and used by the staff of the Fundacion Nacional Cubano-
Americano Fundo De Ayuda Del Exodo Cubano to assist in providing
support for the group of exiles from Mariel, Cuba and presently
located in Peru.
BACKGROUND:
The General Services Administration Department has stood ready,
willing and able to provide the automobiles requested to the
Cuban -American National Foundation for two (2) years. However,
complications arose which prevented the Cuban -American National
Foundation from exporting the vehicles to Peru. Meanwhile, the
automobiles have significantly depreciated in appearance and
value while awaiting delivery. As it appears, that the issue
involving the import of these vehicles to Peru will not soon be
resolved, it is appropriate to take action .rescinding the
previous action of the City Commission.
