A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BIDS OF AMMUNITION
RELOADERS AT A PROPOSED COST OF $24,205.00,
LAWMEN AND SHOOTERS SUPPLY AT A PROPOSED COST
OF $20,873.00, OAKS WHOLESALE AT A PROPOSED
COST OF $9,893.00 AND SOUTHERN GUN & TACKLE
AT A PROPOSED COST OF $500.00 FOR FURNISHING
AMMUNITION SUPPLIES ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR
ONE (1) YEAR RENEWABLE ANNUALLY TO THE
DEPARTMENT OF POLICE AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED
FIRST YEAR COST OF $55,471.00; ALLOCATING
FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1986-87 OPERATING
BUDGET, ACCOUNT NUMBER 290201-703;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE
CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE
ORDERS FOR THESE MATERIALS.
WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were
received December 1, 1986 for the furnishing of Ammunition and
Supplies on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually;
and
WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twenty five (25)
potential suppliers and seven (7) bids were received; and
WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1986-
87 Operating Budget, Account Number 290201-703; and
WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of
Police for the purpose of firearms training and issuance to sworn
officers; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department
of Police recommend that the bids received from Ammunition
Reloaders, Lawmen and Shooters Supply, Oaks Wholesale and
Southern Gun & Tackle be accepted as the lowest responsible and
responsive bids;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The December 1, 1986 bids of Ammunition
Reloaders at a proposed cost of $24,205.00, Lawmen and Shooters
Supply at a proposed cost of $20,873.00, Oaks Wholesale at a
proposed cost of $9,893.00 and Southern Gun & Tackle at a
proposed cost of $500.00 for furnishing Ammunition and Supplies

Department of Police at a total estimated first year cost of
$55,471.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby
allocated from the 1986-87 Operating Budget, Account Number
290201--703.
Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to
instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue Purchase Orders
for these materials.

The Police Department has analyzed the bids received on December
1, 1986 for furnishing ammunition and -peripheral supplies. The
department has found four (4) vendors,* Ammunition Reloaders,
Lawmen & Shooters Supply, Oaks Wholesale and Southern Gun &
Tackle bids to be most advantageous and responsive bidders.
On November 12, 1986, thirty-nine (39) .invitations for sealed
bids for ammunition and perlipheral supplies were sent to
prospective vendors. Bids were opened on December 1, 1986, with
seven (7) vendors responding and four (4) responding with "No
Bid".
The Department of Police will utilize the ammunition in firearms
training and issuance to sworn officers. The peripheral supplies
and parts will be used to assist in training and in the repair
and maintenance of weapons.
Ms. Adrienne MacBeth was contacted reference to Minority
Participation and she concurs with the department's
recommendation.

stated above. The department's specifications have been met and
funds are available from the Fiscal Year 1986-87 Police Operating
Budget.
