Home My WebLink AboutR-87-0306J-87-223 3/20/87 RESOLUTION NO. -- A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF MIAMI RUG COMPANY FOR FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF APPROXIMATELY 5000 SQUARE YARDS OF CARPETING, CUSHION AND RELATED MATERIAL ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR ONE (1) YEAR RENEWABLE ANNUALLY TO THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AT A TOTAL ESTIMATED FIRST YEAR COST OF $75,750.00; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE 1986-87 PROPERTY MAINTENANCE DIVISION FUND ACCOUNT CODE #420401-670; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE PURCHASE ORDERS FOR THESE MATERIALS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received January 28, 1987 for furnishing and installation of approximately 5,000 square yards of carpeting, cushion and related materials to the Department of General Services Administration; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twenty eight (28) potential suppliers and three (3) bids were received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in the 1986- 87 Property Maintenance Division Fund Account Code #420401-670; and WHEREAS, these materials will be used by the Department of General Services Administration for the purpose of providing carpeting and related materials to all City offices on an as needed basis; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of General Services Administration recommend that the bid received from Miami Rug Company be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The January 28, 1987 bid of Miami Rug Company for furnishing and installation of approximately 5000 square yards of carpeting, cushion and related materials on a contract basis for one (1) year renewable annually to the General Services Administration Department at a total estimated first year cost of $75,750.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the 1986-87 Property Maintenance Division Fund Account Code #420401-670. Odio,� City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: 1987 FILF: Resolution Authorizing Award of Bid No. 86-87- 040, Furnishing of 5000 sq. yds. of Carpeting, Cushion and Related Materials It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution awarding a contract for furnishing approximately 5,000 square yards of carpeting, cushion and related materials, including installation, to Miami Rug Company a non -minority vendor, the lowest complete responsive bidder in accord with Bid No. 86-87-040. Total cost of these materials and services are estimated to be $75,750.00, which funds are available in the Property Maintenance Division budget of the General Services Administration Department. BACKGROUND: The General Services Administration Department has analyzed bids received pursuant to bid 086-87-040, to furnish approximately 5,000 square yards of carpeting, cushion and related materials, including installation, and has recommended award be made to Miami Rug Company as the lowest acceptable responsible and responsive bidder, in the amount of $75,750.00. Funds for this purpose are available in the 1986-87 budget of the Property Maintenance Division, General Services Administration Department.
