HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-87-0382J-87-390 4/1S/87 ry RESOLUTION NO. 8 ! `a3821 A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE BID OF HAVIS- SHIELDS EQUIPMENT CORPORATION FOR FURNISHING THREE (3) PADDY WAGONS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION AT A TOTAL PROPOSED COST OF $95,061.81; ALLOCATING FUNDS THEREFOR FROM THE PROCEEDS FROM THE CERTIFICATES OF PARTICIPATION NOTES WHICH SHALL BE APPROPRIATED TO THE 1986-87 HEAVY EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE DIVISION GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT OPERATING BUDGET; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE CHIEF PROCUREMENT OFFICER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER FOR THIS EQUIPMENT, SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, sealed bids were received March 23, 1987 for the furnishing of three (3) Paddy Wagons to the Department of General Services Administration; and WHEREAS, invitations were mailed to twelve (12) potential suppliers and one (1) bid was received; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase will be available from the Certificates of Participation notes which shall be appropriated to the 1986-87 Heavy Equipment Maintenance Division, General Services Administration Department Operating Budget; and WHEREAS, this equipment will be used by the Departments of General Services Administration for the purpose of improving capabilities for transportation of offenders by the Police Department; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of General Services Administration recommend that the bid received from Havis-Shields Equipment Corporation be accepted as :i the only responsible and responsive bid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The March 23, 1987 bid of Havis-Shields Equipment Corporation for furnishing three (3) Paddy Wagons for , 4i the Department of General Services Administration at a total proposed cost of $95,061.00 is hereby accepted with funds therefor hereby allocated from the proceeds for the Certificates of Participation notes which shall be appropriated to the 1986-87 Heavy Equipment Maintenance Division, General Services Administration Department Operating Budget. Section 2. The City Manager is hereby authorized to instruct the Chief Procurement Officer to issue a Purchase Order for this equipment, subject to the availability of funds. Odio City Manager ENCLOSURESt RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution awarding a contract for purchase of three (3) paddy wagons mounted on 1987 Ford F-350 chassis to Havis-Shields Equipment Corporation for purchase to be made under Bid No. 86- 87-035. Total cost of this purchase is estimated to be $95,061.818 which funds shall be available from the proceeds of the Certificates of Participation notes and which shall be appropriated to the Heavy Equipment Maintenance Division operating budget of the General Services Administration Department. BACKGROUND: The General Services Administration Department has reviewed the bids received for Bid Number 86-87-035 to provide three (3) police paddy wagons, mounted on 1987 Ford F-350 chassis. This equipment will be supplied by the only vendor submitting a complete, responsive bid, Havis-Shields Equipment Corporation, P.O. Box 533, 538 Davisville Road, Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, a non -minority vendor. Total cost of this acquisition will be $95,061.81. The acquisition of these three (3) paddy wagons shall provide improved capability for transportation of offenders by the Police Department, and shall replace the current use of three (3) vans. Budgeted Amounts $95,061.81 Source of Funds: Proceeds from the Certificates of Participation notes which shall be appropriated to the 1986-87 Heavy Equipment Maintenance Division, General Services Administration Department Operating Budget.
