ODIO City manager Ms- Cheri Lynn Rosenthal 1915 Brickell Avenue Miami, Florida 33129 Dear Ms. Rosenthal: Thank you for your recent letter advising us of your concerns about the lack of organized recreational opportunities in your Brickell area neighborhood. As we discussed in our recent telephone conversation, the vacant lot near your building, known as the Helmsly Property, is assessed at $29.5 million. hs it.s 'mark.et value is even higher, it is out of the City's range for purchase as a park. There are several parks near you. Simpson and Brickell Parks are passive recreation and picnic areas located in your general neighborhood. Souths3ide Park, on S.W. 1 Avenue between 12 and 13 Streets is an active use park with a ballfield, a basketball court and a playground. It is not staffed because there is no recreation building. I was discussing our conversation with Mr. Jack Luft of the Planning Department. He asked if you would contact him at 579- 6086. Both our Departments are quite interested in community support for Southeide Park and he would like to talk with you about this. I'm sure we will be talking again soon.
