A\ESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF
AEST FOR PROPOSAL, IN A FORM
ACLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR THE
SATHE WATSON BUILDING, LOCATED AT
65RST STREET.
WHEREAS, the C\ty has a need to centralize personnel in
order to increase effciency, reduce costs and provide greater
service to the public; 4d
WHEREAS, several�ity departments, including the Law
Department, Computers DepIrtment, Management and Budget, and
Internal Audits and Reviews lease office space from the private
sector through agreements thatt have expired, or will expire in
the near future; and
WHEREAS, the City owns the is tson Building (the property),
at 65 Sty First Street, which is n _ inadequate for the City's
needs; and
WHEREAS, as a part of this centralization process it is
necessary that the City sell the property}, and relocate personnel
contained therein; and
WHEREAS, Section 3(f) of the City Chart`r delineates powers
with respect to the acquisition and disposii4on of City -owned
real property; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 18-78 of the Ci Code governs
the methods and procedures for sale and lease of Ci y-owned real
property; and
WHEREAS, Article V, Section 18-80 contains pro sions to
assure that if such property cannot be leased, it shall a first
offered at its appraised value to Metro Dade County and o the
Dade County School Board, and it shall not be sold for lesAthan
its appraised value, unless so authorized by the City Commissil;

WHEREAS, in accordance with said Section of the City Code,
the General Services Administration Department solicited
appraisals of the property from two independent members of the
American Institute of Real. Estate Appraisers; and
WHEREAS, the property was appraised at $815,000 and
$1,250,000, respectively;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue a
Request for Proposals, -in a form acceptable to the City Attorney,
for the sale of Watson Building, located at 65 SW First Street.
