RESOLUTION NO. 8 7-4,
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
ACCEPT THE DONATION, AT NO COST TO THE CITY, —
_ OF AN 11.5 FOOT BOSTON WHALER VESSEL FROM
MR. PAUL KEMPNER, PRESIDENT OF KEMPNER
CORPORATION, FOR USE BY THE MIAMI POLICE
DEPARTMENT MARINE PATROL.
WHEREAS, the City Commission recognizes the need for
navigating shallow waters and inaccessible canal extensions as
part of waterborne patrol; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Paul Kempner of the Kempner Corporation wishes
to donate a 11.5 foot Boston Whaler vessel to the City to be used
by the Police Department's Marine Patrol; and
WHEREAS, this donation from the Kempner Corporation, at no
oost to the City, meets the City's specifications for a shallow
draft patrol vessel; and
WHEREAS, this Boston Whaler vessel, can be used by the
Police Department as a shallow draft patrol vessel; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend
that the donation of said 11.5 foot Boston Whaler vessel from the
Kempner Corporation be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City Manager is hereby authorized to accept,
at no cost to the City, the donation of a Boston Whaler vessel
- from the Kempner Corporation for use by the Miami Police
Department's Marine Patrol for the purposes outlined in this
resolution.
