Wynn, Jr. Proposal City of Miami Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce Business Development and Summer Youth Program B) Without question Black business within the City of Miami is not 87-5'78 8'7-570 i a` as economically viable and, is in dire need of increased services through concentrated efforts by both government and private sectors. The Miami Dade Chamber proposes that the City of Miami sponsor a program that will enhance existing city services by providing assistance to city staff in identifying problem areas and concerns in order that we take full advantage of services that the City of Miami presently provides. This proposal would allow the Chamber to hire a business developer that can determine the needs of Black businesses and foster linkage between those businesses and city services (such as zoning, sanitation, law enforcement and parks and recreation). In many instances businesses do not know who to contact or where to call for services the City of Miami provides. The small business may have a problem as mundane as trash removal or lot clearing that impact his business environment. Through City/Chamber funded summer job programs, the Chamber proposes to identify students within the City of Miami who are interested in entrepreneuralship and business administration to survey our businesses and to identify major concerns and issues that can be dealt with in the short term. It is the intent of the Chamber to assist in retention and expansion of neighborhood h businesses. 5 r 87-57g g.. -579 -A f 115 t :b i i
