Dear Commissioner Kennedy:
Thank you for meeting with me and Bob Hosmon to
discuss Miami City Ballet's summer plans. As you
know, Miami City Ballet has been very successful in
its first season, playing to over 62,000 patrons,
being invited to dance in Panama, Ecuador, Israel
and New York and concluding its fiscal year
responsibility with a balanced budget.
As we begin our second season of performances we
want to offer the people of Miami a special
opportunity. We have scheduled two performances
in Gusm.an Cultural Center for August 28 ani 29.
Our intention is to do two things:
1. show the best of our 1986-1987 Season, and
2. prove to everyone that Miami and Downtown
Miami do not go on vacation in the summer.
Will the City help us in this endeavor? Our total
budget for the two evenings is in excess of $70,000.
If the City of Miami will assist us with a $25,000
grant to help offset the expenses, we will be able
to perform and promote both programs this summer.
We believe that the actions and the name of Miami
City Ballet have served this City well in our first
year of performances. We hope that it will continue
to serve the City in the future. Working together
we can make it happen.
As we hope .to be on the agenda with this matter on
,Tune 11, 1987, if you need any further information
from my office, please let me know.
Sincerely,
Mark teinb g
