DIAZ, PROPERTY SPECIALIST I, DEPARTMENT OF POLICE, EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 1987, THROUGH JANUARY 31, 1988, WITH THE PROVISION THAT IN THE EVENT OF A ROLL BACK OR LAYOFF, OSCAR T. DIAZ' PHYSICAL CONDITION SHALL BE REEVALUATED TO DETERMINE IF HIS CONDITION IS SATISFACTORY FOR CONTINUED EMPLOYMENT; FURTHER PROVIDING THAT ALL FUTURE REQUESTS FOR EXTENSION OF EMPLOYMENT BE BROUGHT BEFORE THE COMMISSION ON A YEARLY BASIS FOR ITS REVIEW. WHEREAS, the Civil Service Board, on February 24, 1987, unanimously recommended the approval of employment past the age of 76 for Oscar T. Diaz, Property Specialist I, Department of Police; and WHEREAS, the City Physician has determined that the physical condition of said Oscar T. Diaz is satisfactory for continued employment; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. A one (1) year extension of employment past the age of 76 is hereby granted for Oscar T. Diaz, Property Specialist I, Department of Police, effective February 1, 1987, with the provision that in the event of a rollback, or layoff, Oscar T. Diaz' physical condition shall be reevaluated to determine if his condition is satisfactory for continued employment. Section 2. All future requests for extension of employment shall be brought before the Commission on a yearly basis for its review. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 1l t}, day of T,,,,p , 1987. Odio 60 City Manager RECOMMENDATION: DAM J U N 0 31987 "LE: suejecT: Resolution Authorizing Extension of Employment RERERENCES: ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution authorizing a one (1) year extension of employ- ment for Oscar T. Diaz, Property Specialist I, Department of Police, pursuant to Sec. 40-239(2) of the City Code and the terms and condi- tions as set forth therein. BACKGROUND: The Civil Service Board, at its meeting of February 24, 1987 con- sidered the request of Oscar T. Diaz, Property Specialist I, in the Department of Police, for an extension of employment past the age of seventy-six (76) for a period of one (1) year, to be effec- tive February 1, 1987 to January 31, 1988. The Board noted that Colonel B. Riggs, Administration Division, De- partment of Police, recommended approval of the request and that Dr. Juan A. Milera, City Physician, found Oscar T. Diaz physically quali- fied to continue employment for the additional one (1) year. The Civil Service Board voted unanimously to approve the request, with the provision that in the event of a roll back or layoff, Mr. Diaz' physical condition shall be reevaluated to determine if his condition is satisfactory for continued employment.
