SOTO Please be advised that I represent the residents of Abaco Avenue, which intersects Southwest 27th Avenue to the east. The recent SPI-13 proposal for Southwest 27th Avenue has heightened the concern of my neighbors regarding the increased vehicular traffic in our neighborhood. Five years ago, an SPI-12 district was approved on Abaco Avenue permitting a 50 foot office tower to be built on this residential block. At that time, there were discussions of protecting our street from the increased vehicular traffic caused by such a structure, however, to date nothing has been done. Please find enclosed a petition signed by all the residents of Abaco Avenue east of Washington Street, requesting that our street be closed. Please also find enclosed a letter from the Tigertail Association approving our request. We ask that you provide your assistance in obtaining a street closure on Abaco Avenue in compliance with the spirit of the compromise reached at the City Commission meeting back in 1982, at which time the SPI-12 district was approved. Thank you in advance for your assistance. RVF/cdt (RXF)LTJLP Very truly yours, ROBERT V. FITZSIMMONS. L. Plummer The City of Miami 3500 Pan American Drive Miami, Florida 33133 Dear Commissioner Plummer: This Association has raised, on several occasions, its concern over traffic cutting through the residential area east of S.W. 27th Avenue and south of U.S.1. This concern has been heightened by the proposed re -zoning along S.W. 27th Avenue. For more than eighteen months we have been told that a traffic engineering study of the whole of the Grove was imminent and solutions to the problems would be determined when the six-month study is completed. However, the study has not yet been started. This Association therefore supports, as an interim and experimental measure until the study is completed, the request of residents of the area for Abaco Avenue to be blocked between S.W. 27th Avenue and Washington Street. Very truly yours, Q_c THELMA ALTSHULER President 3 87-614 We, the undersigned residents of Abaco Avenue, request the City Commission to pass a resolution instructing the appropriate city agencies to immediately implement a street closure on Abaco Avenue between S.W. 27th Avenue/Aviation Avenue and Washington Street.
