RESOLUTION NO.�
A RESOLUTION DECLARING THE CITY OF MIAMI'S
DESIRE AND INTENT TO SUPPORT THE RESTORATION,
OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE OF THE JAPANESE
GARDENS LOCATED ON WATSON ISLAND FOR USE AND
ENJOYMENT OF THIS UNIQUE CULTURAL RESOURCE
BY THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI.
WHEREAS, The Japanese Gardens located on City -owned Watson
Island is in need of restoration to revitalize its unique
landscape for use and enjoyment by the residents of the City of
Miami; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to restoration it is necessary to
operate and maintain The Japanese Gardens at a high quality and
standard that ensures its preservation as a unique and special
environment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The City of Miami hereby declares its desire and
intent to support the restoration, operation and maintenance of
The Japanese Gardens located on Watson Island for use and
enjoyment of this unique cultural resource by the residents of
the City of Miami.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 23rd day of July , 1987.

Please place Agnes Youngblood, representing the Friends of the
Japanese Garden, on the personal appearances portion of the July
23rd agenda.
Mrs. Youngblood is seeking a non -monetary commitment from the city
commission in support of the restoration of the Japanese Garden
located on Watson Island.
Mrs. Youngblood has received a commitment from the RICOH Corp. of
Japan to assist in the restoration and the attached resolution will
be sent to Keiji Endoh, chairman of RICOH, should the commission
approve Mrs. Youngblood's request.
