Section 1. An amount not to exceed $5200 is hereby allocated
from 1986-87 Special Programs and Accounts* Contingent Fund# to
cover all or partial costs for City services, permits* and fees
required for the First Merengue Festival to be conducted by
Asociacion Comunal Dominicana, Inc. on September 20, 1987, at
Allapattah Comstock Park.
Section 2. The aforementioned allocation and approval are
hereby subject to and contingent upon the organization's
compliance with any and all applicable administrative directives
and/or requirements.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of September , 1987.

THE ASSOCIACION COMUNAL DOMINICANA, INC. organizactmon non profit,
is organizing the FIRST MERENGUE FESTIVAL, the 20 of September
(Sunday) at the Comstock Park located at 1700 N.W. 28th St. Miami,
Florida in the ALLAPATTAH ZONE, from 9:00 A.M. to 7:00 P,M.
This maynificient events is made with the only object to promote
the Culture and Folklor of the Dominican Republic., with aim of
let the community know our music and a simbol of freenship between
the community of Miami, for the general latin public in general.
THIS EVENT IS' GENERAL FREE TO THE PUBLIC. To celebrate this gran event
we.are being sponsor by a few Business and Company, that are very please
that this event is going to take effect..
We have all the permits necessary require by the City and the date
of September the 20 assigned by the City Officially.
Our petition in front of you honor Commission is to waived the fee that
the ,,ark is charyeiny to take effect for the Festival these fee are,
$4,505.70 dollars in virtue that this association is a non -profits
.our..support is to let the community know there is another people from
other racial oackyround, united them the Latin Family in this Big Miami. p

Dear Mr. Mateo and Ms. Garcia:
Thank you for your letter of July 3, 1987, concerning the
Merengue Festival you are planning for August 16, 1987 in
Comstock Park. The City of Miami is pleased that you have
elected to hold your event at our facility and supports your
effort to bring quality entertainment to our Dominican community.
Regarding your request for fee waivers, I regret that the City
cannot provide substantial support due to its present budgetary
constraints. The best I can offer is to eliminate the following
non -labor related charges: $75 part permit, $140 showmobile, $80
police administrative fee and $25 assembly permit fee, for a
total reduction of $320. I will also request that parks and
police supervisors at the event cut back their staffs if
attendance falls short of expectations.
Once again, the City of Miami appreciates your interest in the
community and wishes to be of service whenever possible.
