Shortly after that meeting, authority was granted by the Commission to make certain improvements to the Bicentennial slip to provide a facility for docking and handling visiting military ships. The program is over a year old and, by Chamber of Commerce measurement, a remarkable success. The Military Affairs Committee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce would like to request that you schedule a personal appearance before the City Commission on September 8, 1987, so that we might share the record of that success with. those who supported our efforts. Thank you for your consideration of this request. /kf t Very truly yours, W. EAGLE serves as a seagoing clas-stmin for approximately 175 cadets and instructors front the U.S. Coast Guard Academy located in New London, CT. It is on the decks and in the rigging of the EAGLE that the young men and women of the Coast Guard Academy get their first taste of salt air and life at sea. From this experience they develop a respect for the elements that will be with them throughout their lifetime. They are tested and chal- lenged, often to the limits of their endurance. Work - mg aloft they meet fear and learn to overcome it. The training the cadets receive under sail has proven to be an invaluable asset during their subsequent Coast Guard careers. - enliv in, t1imilemitio and 1411M. trAinitig slier l""=10iarf ( ittaiti Aumlemy.
