LETTER FROM EDUARDO J. PADRONo VICE PRESIDENT
OF MIAMI BADE COMMUNITY COLLEGE, WOLFSON
CAMPUS, DATED AUGUST 211 1986 TO THE CITY
MANAGER FOR REVIEW AND APPROPRIATE
RSCOMMENDATION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage and
establish a temporary pedestrian mall during Paella 187, the
following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic
from 8:00 P.M. on October 9, 1987 until 9:00 A.M. on October 11
1987 as specified below:
N.E. 2 Ave. from N.E. 5 Street to N.E. 3 Street
N.E. 4 Street from Biscayne Blvd. to N.E. 2 Ave.
N.E. 1 Ave. from N.E. 3 Street to N.E. 5 Street
Included in the herein closure are all streets,
avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares ME
intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this
Section.
Section 2. Such closing of streets is subject to State
approval and ;issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and
Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the.
Department of Police after giving all due consideration to the
safety and traffic needs of _residents, businesses, and religious
institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said
arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's

Station 3. Such autharitation in hereby sub5oet to the
organitors of the Paoii& 107 obtaining insurance requirements as
mandated by the 'City of Miami and paying for all necessary taste

Eduardo J. Pndron, bite President of Miami Dade Community
Collage, Wolfson Cathpus, dated August 21, 1987 are 'hereby
referred to the City Manager for review and appropriate
recommendation.

Xour contribution to Paella '85 made this event a secured and pleascnt place to
be in Miami that night. The police of ricers that attended Paella in the nnst
were ver-, Nnthusiasti.c, dedicated and coorr_rative at this event.

for a new record -setting crctad of. 7,5V(l invited guests. The > r,ttlp of the
Paellas will. be the t-.aditionnl seafood pae?.1a superv_sed by five of Viami's top
restaurants.
Since Miami -Dade Cormurity College operates on an educational buc:,et, we have
had everything associated with this event donated by Wn,TAi - Channel
Lower►brau beer, Radio Suave, Pepsi -Cola, Vinsa, t:tra Super Food Centert:, and
many others. The proceeds from the admissions charge will be used. fr..:• the
scholarships for underpriIedeed students.

Traffic Control department (Officer Aguirre) for Paella '87, Therefore, as soon

As mentioned in my previous letter, Miami -Dade Community College, Wolfson
Campus is hosting Paella '87 on the evening of October 10. This year Paella
'87 will serve as a fundraiser to support Miami -Dade Community College's edu-
cational programs and scholarships for underprivileged students.
We would like to appear before the City Commission to request the followings
1. Financial support for services rendered by City of Miami police officers
2. Permission to close N.E. First and Second Avenues between Third and
Fourth Streets from October 9 at 8:00 p.m. until October 11 at 9:00 p.m.
3. Permission to dispense beer and wine
4. Restrict access by the public to any commercial establishment located
in the areas requested to be closed, other than those authorized by the
City
All necessary applications have already been completed at the City of Miami,
Development Office, with Espi Avalos. We appreciate the collaboration of your
offices and staff.
