HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-87-07823-87- 4 811416 (Mot= 1-463) 5=14-b7 ) RESOLUTION NO= A RESOLUTION ALLOCATING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50*000, FROM THE $500,000 SURPLUS REVENUES FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF -._STREET PARKING TO BE GIVEN TO THE CITY, IN SUPPORT OF THE II ALLAPATTAH FAIR, TO BE CONDUCTED DECEMBER 11=13, 1987 BY THE ALLAPATTAH BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY, INC.; FURTHER STIPULATING THAT IF ANY PROFITS ARE DERIVED FROM SUCH EVENT, THE CITY SHALL RECEIVE ONE HALF OF SAID PROFITS; SAID ALLOCATION BEING CONDITIONED UPON SUBSTANTIAL COMPLIANCE WITH CITY OF MIAMI ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY NO. APM- 1-84, DATED JANUARY 24, 1984. WHEREAS, on May 14, 1987 the City Commission by Motion 87- 463 expressed its intent to allocate an amount not to exceed $50,000 from Off -Street Parking, Excess Revenue Fund, to the Allapattah Business Development Authority Inc., in connection with the II Allapattah Fair to be held at Curtis Park and vicinity December 11-13, 1987; and WHEREAS, the City Commission also stipulated that if any profits are derived from said event, the City shall receive one half of the profits; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An amount not to exceed $50,000 is hereby allocated, from the $500,000 surplus revenues from the Department of Off -Street Parking to be given to the City, in support of the II Allapattah Fair to be conducted December 11-13, 1987 by the Allapattah Business Development Authority, Inc. Section 2. If any profits are derived from said event, the City shall receive one half of said profits. Section 3. The herein allocation is hereby conditioned upon substantial compliance with City of Miami Administrative Policy APM-1-841 dated January 24, 1984. Odio aEiEpENcEs: Commission Agenda Item City Manager September 8, 1987 ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached resolution formalizing Motion 87-463 of May 14, 1987, allocating $50,000 from the $500,000 surplus revenues from the Department of Off -Street Parking, in support of the II Allapattah Fair. BACKGROUND: The Department of Community Development has prepared the appropriate legislation to formalize the intent of the City Commission to allocate $50,000 in support of the II Allapattah Fair to be conducted by the Allapattah Business Development Authority, Inc. on December 11-13, 1987. The resolution further stipulates that if any profits are derived from the event, the City shall receive one-half of said profits. The proposed II Allapattah Fair includes a three day tri-ethnic festival at Curtis Park, featuring amusement rides, food vendors, arts and crafts, games booths, boxing matches, a five -mile run along the river and a Miccosukee Indian Village. A street festival will be held on the last day of the event, Sunday, December 13th, which will include music, folkloric groups, food vending and local merchants outside booths. On July 9, 1987, the City Commission which authorized the closure of restriction of retail peddlers and t during the street Fair to take place 1987.
