Odi City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution approving, in principle, the 1987-1993 City of Miami Capital Improvement Program. BACKGROUND: The 1987-93 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is the eleventh program prepared by the Planning Department as part of Miami's ongoing capital programming process. The CIP serves as a source of information about the City's development and capital expenditures. The proposed 1987-1993 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes over 200 projects valued at nearly $400 million. Major emphasis is placed on Parks and Recreation, Storm Sewers, Sanitary Sewers and Street projects programmed throughout the six year plan. These four types of projects together receive 60% of the total proposed funding allocation. The 1987-1993 Capital Improvement Program is funded from four major sources. City bonds provide 75% of the total Junding requirements for the six -year capital program. The City's Capital Improvement Fund provides 12% of the funding required. Federal and State Grants account for less than 10%. Funds are not currently available to implement, every project proposed throughout the last five years of the 1987-1993 capital program. While available funds to date represent most of the total program funding requirements, over 30% is anticipated to become available during years 1988 - 1993.
