N7--1046 A RESOLUTION CONCERNING THE MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY PARADE TO BE HELD JANUARY 18, 1988 PROVIDING FOR THE CLOSURE OF DESIGNATED STREETS TO THROUGH VEHICULAR TRAFFIC ESTABLISHING A PEDESTRIAN MALL SUBJECT TO THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE AND FIRE, RESCUE AND INSPECTION SERVICES AND THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE CITY BE INSURED AGAINST ANY POTENTIAL LIABILITY; CONDITIONED UPON THE ORGANIZERS PAYING FOR THE NECESSARY COST OF CITY SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. In order to effectuate safe passage and establish a temporary pedestrian mall during the Martin Luther King Day Parade, the following streets are hereby closed to through vehicular traffic from 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on January 18, 1988 as specified below: N.W. 62 Street from N.W. 8 Avenue to N.W. 17th Avenue N.W. 8th Avenue from 61st Street to 64th Street Included in the herein closure are all streets, avenues, alleys, ways and thoroughfares which intersect the enumerated areas delineated in this Section. Section 3. Such closing of streets is subject to State approval and the issuance of permits by the Departments of Police and Fire, Rescue and Inspection Services. Said permit from the Department of Police is to be issued upon full approval of the Chief of Police after giving all due consideration to the safety and traffic needs of residents, businesses, and religious institutions in the area for entering and crossing through said arterials and upon the favorable exercise of the City Manager's judgement predicated upon all factors set forth herein. Section 4. The herein authorization is hereby conditioned upon the organizers obtaining insurance requirements as mandated CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF NOV 199 1987 ;N No. 13• -ILO EMARKS: by the City of Miami and paying for all costs of City services associated with said event beyond any costs that may be allocated by the City.
