HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-87-1033J-87-909 10/8/87 RESOLUTION NO. .97 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING TWO MEMBERS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST AS PROVIDED FOR BY CITY OF MIAMI ORDINANCE NO. 10002, SECTIONS 40-226 AND 40-227 FOR SPECIFIED TERMS OF OFFICE. WHEREAS, appointments need to be made to the City of Miami General Employees and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees for terms of office specified herein; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed as a member of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees to serve a full term of office which begins October 1, 1987 and expires September 30, 1989. REFERENCES: City Commission Agenda Cesar Odio October 22, 1987 City Manager ENCLOSURES: 0 Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Commission approve the attached Resolution, .reappointing two members to the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board. Background: City of Miami Code sections 40-226 and 40-227 (Ordinance #10002), provide for the appointment of a nine member board of trustees to administer and manage the retirement plan known as the "City of Miami. General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust". Of these nine members, one is to be selected by the City Manager, two by the general employees' (AFSCYIE bargaining unit) and two by the sanitation employees' (SEA bargaining unit). Four independent trustees are to be selected by the City Commission. Of the present appointments, two are expiring: (1) The appointment of RON THOMPKINS was made by the City Commission from a list of independent board member candidates submitted by the Sanitation Employees' Association, (SEA). It is the SEA's recommendation that Ron Thompkins be reappointed for a term of office which would begin on October 1, 1987 and would expire on September 30, 1989. 65-( Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission Page Two September 30, 1987 (2) The appointment of Theresa Pollock to the board member's seat to be selected by the sanitation employees, from the bargaining unit represented by the SEA, is expiring on December 31, 1987.
