HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-87-1031J-87-860 8/24/87 RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION APPOINTING TWO INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, HEALTH FACILITIES AUTHORITY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following two individuals are appointed to serve as members of the City of Miami, Florida, Health Facili- ties Authority for the terms expiring on the dates as set forth below and in each case to serve until his or her successor is appointed and has qualified. The record of each membership oath shall be filed with the Florida Department of State and the City Clerk. NAME TERM EXPIRATION DATE (a) Bruno Barreiro, Jr. June 3, 1991 (b) T. Honorable Mayor and Members DATE: August 24, 1987 FILE: of the City Commission SUBJECT: Appointment of Two Members to the C i ty of Miami, Florida Health Facilities Authority FROM: Cesar H• O d i o REFERENCES: City Manager ENCLOSURES: RECOMMENDATION: The enabling legislation adopted on February 22, 1979, which created the Health Facilities Authority, provided for the appointment of five individuals to the Authority. Although terms for Vice Chairman T. Willard Fair, and member Bruno Barreira, Jr., expired on June 3, 1987, members are authorized to serve until their successors are appointed. Accordingly, these two vacancies with terms expiring June 3, 1991, need to be filled. The incumbent appointments were made by Commissioners Dawkins and Kennedy. It is respectfully recommended that the attached Resolution appointing two individuals as members of the City of Miami, Florida Health Facilities Authority, be adopted. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami, Florida Health Facilities Authority provides tax-exempt financings for hospitals and other health facilities located in the City. Tax-exempt financings carry lower interest rates than conventional financings, thereby making services provided by such institutions more affordable to patients. cc: Law Department 87-103t
