ENCLOSURES:
RECOMMENDATION:
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the
attached ordinance establishing a schedule of rates, effective
January 1, 1988, for the new Exhibit Hall now under construction at
the Miami Convention Center.
BACKGROUND:
The Department of Conferences and Conventions recommends these
proposed rates for the Exhibit Hall now under construction at the
[Miami Convention Center. It is anticipated that the Exhibit Hall
will.be completed by December 31, 1987, and will consist of
approximately 28,000 square feet, divisible into three rooms (please
see attached copy of the floor plan of the Exhibit Hall).
Based on a review of the current rates in comparable facilities, and
comparative research compiled by Facility Management Group, Inc., the
contracted managers of Miami Convention Center, it has been
determined that these proposed rates will place Miami Convention
Center in a competitive position with comparable facilities in the
Greater Miami area. The attached table provides a comparison of
rates charged by similar facilities.
