We have noted that the Citywide Sanitary sewer Extension
Improvement - N.W. 5 Avenue, B-5546 is not on the Commission
Agenda for the December 10, 1987 meeting. _
Attached is a copy of the advertisement for bids stating that _
bids are to be received by the City Commission at 11:00 a.m. on
December 10, 1987.
We would appreciate your taking steps to have this item placed on
the agenda as a "pocket item".
We estimate that the amount of time needed to open and receive
all bids should not exceed five (5) minutes.

The City of Miami has adopted Ordinance No. 10032, which implements the "First
MO Source Hiring Agreement." The object of this ordinance is to provide
ME employment opportunities to City of Miami residents on contracts resulting in
mom the creation of new permanent jobs. Contractors may be eligible for wage
reimbursement under this program. For further information contact the

Proposal includes the time of performance, and specifications contain
provisions for liquidated damages for failure to complete the work on time.
The City Commission reserves the right to waive any informality in any bid,
and the City Manager may reject any or all bids, and readvertise (B -5546, Req.
3694) .

ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
Sealed bids for construction of CITYWIDE SANITARY SEWER EXTENSION
IMPROVEMENT - NW 5 AVENUE (B -5546) will be received by the City Manager and
the City Pommi ssicrl, rf the City of Miami, Florida at 1:uu a.m. on the 10th
"01 December„ 1 87) in the City Commission Chambers, floor of the
Miami arty Mai r, 3yuu Pan American Drive, Dinner Key, Miami, Florida, 33133,
at which time they will be publicly opened and read.
The work will consist of construction of approximately 600 linear feet of
extra strength vitrified clay pipe sewer at a maximum cut of 6 feet; and
approximately 110 linear feet of 6" extra heavy cast iron pipe lateral. City
regulations will allow bidders to furnish a performance bond and a bid bond in
accordance with Resolutions No. 86 -983 and No. 87 -915. For technical
questions regarding the plans and specifications please contact James J. Kay,
P.E., Sewer Design Engineer, at (305)579 -6865. Prospective bidders will be
required to submit, with their bid, a copy of the appropriate Certificate of
Competency, as issued by Dade County, which authorizes the bidder to perform
the proposed work.
All bids shall be submitted in accordance with the Instructions to Bidders and
Specifications. Plans and specifications may be obtained from the office of
the Director of Public Works, 275 N.W. 2 Street, 4th Floor, Miami, Florida,
33128, on or after November 19, 1987. There will be a $20 deposit required
for each set. Deposits will be refunded only upon return of plans and
specifications to the Department of Public Works, unmarked and in good
condition within two (2) weeks after opening of the bids.
Prospective bidders are alerted to the provisions of Ordinance No. 10062
regarding allocation of contracts to minority vendors. The City will expect
prospective bidders to submit an Affirmative Action Plan, as defined in said
Ordinance, and as required in the Instruction to Bidders.
